When she starts high school popular Hana is delighted to discover that her longtime crush is her homeroom teacher. She considers herself lucky until realising he has feelings for someone else, the beautiful and elegant music teacher. Hana finds solace in another student, attractive Mugi, who has been in love with the music teacher since she was his home tutor. Together, each can pretend that the other is the person they really wish they were with. They look like enviable high school sweethearts to the outside world, while they hide their true motivations from all but each other. Full disclosure: I recently binge-read the manga and it blew me away.

They are both nasty, cynical, and take the ideal love of the romance anime and toss it out the window, Masamune-kun with its comedic take on revenge, and Kuzu no Honkai with its truthful take on teenage feelings. The manga is set to end this Spring , but it is unknown if the anime will cover the whole story. The series is being directed by Masaomi Ando and produced by Lerche , with series composition by Makoto Uezu, character designs by Keiko Kurosawa, and music by Masaru Yokoyama.
Both an anime television series adaptation by Lerche and live-action television series aired between January and March on Fuji TV. High school student Hanabi Yasuraoka has been in love with Narumi Kanai, her older childhood friend who is now her homeroom teacher. But from the look in Narumi's eyes when he sees the new music teacher Akane Minagawa, Hanabi realizes that he is in love with Akane and not her. Hanabi meets Mugi Awaya, another student who is in love with Akane, who was his tutor when he was in middle school.
